Honesty in Communications
When my colleague Jill Kurtz @ Kurtz Digital Strategy invited me to submit an article for her blog, I chose to recognize April as Accreditation in Public Relations month for the APR. At a time when trust is everything, Honesty in Communications stood out as an important topic. Thank you also to PRSA for republishing my blog on Honesty in Communications, and to the National Capital Chapter for sharing it with the region’s members.
Honesty isn’t just a virtue—it’s a strategic imperative. From client relationships to crisis response, the APR advances transparency, consistency, and ethical decision-making shape stronger communication outcomes. Whether you are an APR or not, and whether you are a novice in public relations or an experienced communicator, I hope the PRSA Code of Ethics helps you navigate the challenges you encounter in pursuit of honesty in communications.
