Maybe you are a Guthrie!

When you hear the name Guthrie, does Arlo Guthrie come to mind? He catapulted to fame with the song and movie “Alice’s Restaurant” in the late 1960s. His father, the legendary Woody Guthrie, wrote “This Land is Your Land” during the Great Depression in the 1930s. The family name hails from the 15th century Guthrie Castle in Scotland. They represent some 20 million to 25 million Americans of Scottish heritage, descendants of many clans. The Guthries invited me to join the Guthrie Family Gathering in Great Barrington, Mass., to share highlights of Clan Guthrie’s American journey in this short video. Distant clan members came from Massachusetts, California, Florida, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia for the occasion.
